Cages
The rats are housed inside. I use newspaper in the cages. The cages are cleaned twice a week. I do whole cage cleans; wash hammocks, wipe down toys/hidey houses, take out dirty newspaper, wipe the trays and then put clean newspaper, hammocks and toys back in.
My male rats are housed in a Kmate cage (similar to the Ferret Kingdom)

Diet
All of my rats are fed a homemade mix. This includes;
Homebrand Toasted Muesli
Homebrand Rolled Oats
Abundant Earth Puffed Rice
Abundant Earth Puffed Corn
Abundant Earth Puffed Millet
Puffed Wheat
Meriram Tropical Breakfast (mix of fruits)
McKenzies Green Split Peas
McKenzies Yellow Split Peas

They have the homemade mix available 24/7, as well as fresh water.
My rats also get fruits & veggies once a day, this includes apples, pears, bananas, strawberries, corn, peas, carrots, broccoli, green beans. They also get treats like yogurt, yogurt drops, jam toast, wet kitten food, cooked eggs, ensure, nutrigel and popcorn once a week. They also get food scraps and whatever else I decide to feed them.
